It works per dispatched order, because returns cost you money even though they earn nothing:
Profit per dispatched order = (1 − return rate) × (price without GST − product cost) − shipping − return rate × return shipping − packaging − other costs
Profit per delivered order divides that by the share of orders you keep, and margin is that profit as a share of your selling price. Shipping shows up twice, on every order and again on every return, which is why a cheaper shipping slab helps more than the rupee saving suggests. Frequently asked questions
What is margin in Meesho?
Margin is the share of your selling price you keep as profit after every cost: product cost, shipping, packaging, GST and the cost of returns. If you sell at ₹400 and keep ₹60 per delivered order, your margin is 15%.
What is a good profit margin on Meesho?
Most healthy Meesho listings keep 15–25% of the selling price after all costs. Below 10%, a small rise in returns or one higher shipping slab can wipe out your profit.
How do I calculate my selling price on Meesho?
Add your product cost to your per-order costs (shipping, packaging, and shipping on returns spread across delivered orders), then divide by (1 − target margin) after taking out GST. The "price for target margin" box in this calculator does this for you.
How are returns counted in this calculator?
Returned and RTO orders earn nothing but still cost forward shipping, the return trip and packaging. We assume the product comes back resellable, so its cost is not lost. Raise "Other costs" if many returns come back damaged.
How much can a Meesho seller earn per day?
Multiply your profit per dispatched order by your daily orders. At ₹28 profit per order and 10 orders a day, that is about ₹280 a day or ₹8,400 a month. Enter your own numbers above to see yours.
Are the shipping presets exact?
No. They are typical charges per weight slab; the real charge depends on courier, zone and how Meesho estimates your product size. Check the shipping charge shown in your Meesho supplier panel and type it in.
